Many people have irreplaceable family videos recorded on magnetic VHS video tape. Magnetic video tape degrades and demagnetizes in quality each time you view it. In fact, video tape degrades every year even if you don’t view it. The average life expectancy of magnetic video tape can be as low as 10 to 12 years. If handled properly, a DVD can last over 100 years.
